Best Western Fallsview Hotel - US Visitor Information

US Visitor Information - Passport NOT Required to enter Canada

When you enter Canada, a customs officer may ask to see your passport and a valid visa, if one is necessary. If you are a citizen of the United States, you do not need a passport to enter Canada. However, you should carry proof of your citizenship, such as a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship or naturalization, as well as a photo ID such as a current, valid driver's license. If you are a permanent resident of the U.S., you should bring your Permanent Resident Card (i.e. green card) with you.

Visas are not required for U.S. citizens entering Canada from the U.S. Here is a list of acceptable identification:

  • Birth Certificate and photo ID such as a driver's license
  • Baptismal Certificate and photo ID
  • Voter Registration Card, if you live in a state that issues them and a photo ID
  • Certificate of citizenship or naturalization and photo ID
Bringing Children into Canada

If you are travelling with children, you should carry identification such as birth certificate for each child. Divorced parents who share custody of their children should carry copies of the legal custody documents. Adults who are not parents or guardians should have written permission from the parents or guardians to supervise the children. When travelling with a group of vehicles, parents or guardians should travel in the same vehicle as the children when arriving at the border. Any person under the age of 18 and traveling alone should carry a letter from his/her parent or guardian authorizing the trip. Travelers without such documentation may experience delays at the port of entry.

Customs officers are looking for missing children and may ask questions about the children who are travelling with you.

Bringing Pets into Canada

Dogs and cats from the U.S. that are at least three months old need signed and dated certificates from a veterinarian verifying that they have been vaccinated against rabies within the last three years. The certificate must clearly identify the animal. If your dogs or cats are less than three months old, you do not need a certificate of rabies vaccination to enter Canada. However, the animals must be in good health when they arrive.

Canadian Currency

The exchange rate between Canadian and US currency is currently running abour par. Here at the Best Western Fallsview we always quote all of our customers in Canadian dollars. However many other hotels quote prices in US dollars to their American customers and some hotels even exaggerate the exchange rate they are paying to US customers. The simplest way to protect yourself, when comparing price is to compare all prices in canadian dollars.

Remember as well, that when using a credit card or debit card, that it is the issuing bank that does all the exchanging (when and where required), and they do this as per your card holder's agreement. The credit card companies exchange your money, not the hotels.
